Girl 02:52
Is it cold where you are? Is it starting to snow? Is it coincidence that the stars fled from the sky at the same time you last looked me in the eyes? Don’t stray stay with me girl. Don’t go away from me girl. Did you trust in my bones or taste tears on my lips? Is it remarkable the way my winter kills all that is blossoming or bursting for thrills?
2.
All my debts are paid in full. I’ve got ghosts on my back. I’ve got a bone dry well. All my bones are black like oil. I’ve got dreams in the air. I’ve got blood in the soil. Underneath the freezing stars apple red birds circle my heart. It’s like dragging a wounded deer: dragging this heart from hell to here.
3.
True hate for winter’s dark. Two hands start a fire in the freezing room. Hard snow falls like tears over the broken house & the pipes sing wicked & hush like a ghost’s little whisper.
4.
Infinite winter. The birds have all flown. I’m writing a letter to all the people I know. My life has been one long suicide note. Poignant & dark but somehow beautiful. & it takes tooth & nail. The trials come & go as the years fade away like ashes in the snow. It takes tooth & nail. It takes a lifetime to get it all right. I drive by the river almost every night hoping that something will breathe life back in me. Why do the stars weep when they’re already free?
5.
Nails 05:59
Wait for me. Don’t go alone to the stream that’s red with leaves or white with snow. Empty your blood of guilt & ache. Don’t trade it all away for a chance at a painless life. Don’t cross your heart & hope to die & then lie trough your teeth or the years will line up like nails you can’t drive. Don’t trade it all away.
